F.A.Q.s

Q: What are the benefits of using an in-home pet sitter versus a kennel or boarding facility?

A: Pets are happier and experience less stress when at home; Your pet’s food and exercise routines remain the same; Your home will have a “lived in” look while you are away; You don’t have to inconvenience a neighbor or relative to care for your pet; Your pet isn’t subjected to possible illness while staying in a kennel; You’ll no longer feel guilty when you travel or work late because you’ll have the peace of mind that your pets are being well cared for.

Q: Are you bonded and insured?

A: Yes! I’ve purchased these important safeguards for your protection and peace of mind.

Q: How much notice do you need?

A: For new clients, I need at least 5 days notice in order to schedule a consultation visit. For existing clients, I can usually work with less time, however more notice is always preferred.

Q: Can I meet you before I leave on my trip?

A: Yes. I offer a free in-home consultation where I come to your home to meet you and your pets, get detailed instructions, and receive a copy of your key.

Q: Do you have experience giving medication to pets?

A: Yes. I’m experienced in giving medicine subcutaneously (insulin) or orally, and applying ointments, eye drops, etc.

Q: Can I get updates on how my pets are doing?

A: Yes. I’m happy to call, email, or text you with updates if requested. Otherwise, I will not disturb your relaxing getaway unless there is a problem or we have a question. You are also able to contact me any time while you're away.

Q: How do I know if my pet behaved well while I was gone?

A: I leave daily logs, recording each visit. These will tell you what time I arrived and left, notes on your pet’s demeanor, and what activities we participated in together.

Q: Do you stay overnight?

A: Yes, I occasionally offer overnight visits, which are 13 hours (usually from 6 pm to 7 am) and include services that night through the next morning.

Q: Do you board pets in your home?

A: No. This requires separate insurance and I am not set up for this service.

Q: Do you provide housesitting services, such as bringing in mail and watering plants?

A: Yes. All of these services are done free of charge while visiting your pets.

Q: Do you charge more for major holidays?

A: Yes. A small surcharge of 15% applies when caring for your pets on Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve, and Christmas Day.

Q: How do I get my key back?

A: You have the option of having your key returned or retained securely with me for future visits. When you return from your trip, you can contact me to return your key at your convenience.
